York Country Club

An enthusiastic group of golfers committed to the idea of a nine-hole golf course in 1919. The group established a membership for the use of the course and over the years, the membership increased and the course expanded to 18 holes. Today, York Country Club consists of a semi-private golf course along with a food and beverage operation. The membership is made up of full-golf members, out of county golf members and social members. York Country Club has a strong management staff that is committed to making their guest’s experience a positive one. The day to day operation is run by Bill Thomas – Director of Golf, Brian Gleason – Greens Superintendent, Tammi Sahling – Manager of Food and Beverage, and Frankie Sandall – Business Manager.

York Country Club features a championship 18-hole golf course, showcasing some of the most exciting golf vistas in Nebraska. They annually host several Nebraska State golf events for Men, Seniors, Ladies and Junior golfers, including the York Open, a 2-day stroke play tournament. They also host several scrambles open to the public and over 50 corporate golf outings a year. The club is staffed by professionals who are attentive to all your needs and it is their desire to offer an experience that is an enjoyable and positive one. York Country Club offers full dining service Tuesday through Saturday with a brunch offered on Sunday. In addition to regular dining, the club is the perfect place to host meetings, weddings or large gatherings. With a capability to seat up to 300 people comfortably, dining services, room for a band or DJ and dancing area, they can assure that your special event will be memorable.

York’s location has been very beneficial to the club in hosting events because its central location can draw from large populations within an hour or two from every direction. York County Club is the only 18-hole golf course within an hour any direction. The central location has also allowed area school districts to host large and small tournaments. Throughout the year, in addition to member gatherings, York Country Club hosts events that are open to the public.

Club President, Barry Redfern, was asked, “How do you see your business in the future?” He answered “The golf industry has been in a slowdown for over a decade and most clubs are finding it difficult to attract younger members to the game that are as supportive as golf’s older members have been over the years. We will continue to face challenges but through the efforts of our members York CC will continue to provide a quality product to York and central Nebraska.”

York Country Club welcomes anyone to come out and check out the course or dining services. If you are not a current member, the board would like the community to be informed of this year’s membership rates.
