Seward Suicide Prevention Coalition Presents Mental Health First Aid
Adult – Friday, April 20th; Youth – Wednesday, April 25th 8:00am-5:00pm @ Seward Memorial Library.

Mental Health First Aid is an 8 hour training course that will give participants the key skills to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The training helps laypersons identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health, illnesses, and addictions. Take adult or youth training – or both!

Writer’s Workshop @ York College Campus, Mackey Center

The York College English Department will host its annual Writer’s Workshop on Sunday, April 22, from 2-5 p.m. The workshop will feature Dr. Jonis Agee, author of “Bones of Paradise”– hailed as ‘the finest Western since Lonesome Dove.’ This event is free and open to the public; however, registration is required: www.york.edu/writersworkshop.

Agee will give a presentation and reading at 2 p.m. in the Prayer Chapel. A reception will follow at 3. The workshop component begins at 3:30 in the Cornerstone Room (Mackey Center). Writers of all kinds are welcome!

Laboratory Health Screenings at YORK GENERAL – Discounted lab testing at York General on Tuesday, April 24 from 6am-10am. Several tests are included, including CBC, CMP and Lipid Panel, Hemoglobin A1c, Prostate Specific Antigen test, and Thyroid Stimulating Hormone test. A 10 to 12 hour fast is recommended for ideal results. Call the York General Laboratory at 402-362-0439 for more information. Come to York General Hospital Cafeteria (East end of cafeteria) for your screening.

He’ll be giving a presentation on the benefits of solar. And specifically the benefits of investing in community solar. Jeff will give examples of communities throughout Nebraska that have built community solar arrays and how they have benefited from them.
