Farmers Market

By January 17, 2017Events

With the beautiful sunshine brings the feeling that spring will be here very soon. I know that I am more than ready for green grass and fresh flowers. What else gets us thinking spring? Farmers’ Market planning does. Rhonda has spent quite a bit of time this winter working out the details for the 2018 market.

As we followed the processes of the courthouse expansion and the water main project over the winter months, our thoughts jumped ahead to June. Not having a clear idea what phase each of these projects will be in, we began working on a contingency plan for the market. Rhonda visited with several of our regular market vendors during our winter events to get their feedback. The vendors we spoke with agreed that moving the Market at the beginning of the season instead of partway through is the better way to go.

With that feedback, Rhonda went on a “scouting” mission for a location. When she went to Lichti’s TV and Appliance to review the space there, she felt this would be a perfect location. The idea of moving the market to Lichti’s Lot was met with great enthusiasm. A few logistics were worked out and Max is very excited to host the York Community for the Farmers’ Market. This location will accommodate vendors and shoppers alike with great parking and plenty of room.

June 7 will be the first Market of the season and will run through September 6. We will once again invite vendors with homemade, handmade or homegrown items to contact our office or download the 2018 Vendor Registration.
