Click here for a list of our Exhibitors: York’s Home & Garden Show
Phone calls to our office have really picked up regarding the Home and Garden Show that is taking place February 15 and 16. Specific questions have been asked regarding what can be brought out for the Shred Truck. The shred truck will be available from 2 – 6 PM on Friday, February 15. There will be Ambassadors on hand to assist community members with their boxes and bags of material to be shredded. The truck will be located at the south end of the Holthus Convention Center Parking lot. There will be signs to help guide you to the area. Residents are encouraged to bring old bank statements, financial statements and medical records to be shredded. It is very important that everyone safeguards their financial and medical documents. The documents are shredded right there on sight. We would ask that residents are respectful of how much they bring to be shredded. Typically, a few boxes per household is customary. In order to serve as many as possible, we do ask that people use this as a guide when gathering their materials. I want to thank York General for co-sponsoring this shred event with the Chamber Office. With this partnership, we were able to expand the time to four hours. We hope those working until 5 PM will be served by the extended time.
The Home and Garden show gets started at 2 PM on Friday, February 15 and runs thru 7 PM that evening. In addition to the Shred Truck, there are other informative sessions that will be taking place. From 3 – 6 PM, York General will have Bioimpedance Analysis performed at their booth space in the Lobby area. At 3:30 and 6:00 PM, representatives from York Ace Hardware will have DIY sessions covering the basics on Tiling, Grouting and Drywall Repair. Valentinos To Go will be this year’s on-site food vendor and will be serving delicious dinner on Friday and lunch on Saturday at affordable prices.
The show continues on Saturday, February 16. The hours are from 8 AM – 2 PM. Once again, this year, York FFA students will have a pancake feed as a fundraiser for their organizations. I invite everyone to come out for delicious pancakes and sausage. A question I often get is, “What amount should I give?” Our rule of thumb is what would I pay at a restaurant (plus tip). Of course, donations of any size are welcome.
Saturday’s programming will include Flu Shots at York General Booth (small fee will apply) along with Bioimpedance Testing. At 11 AM and 1 PM, Amanda Peterson with Peterson’s Petal Company will host sessions on how to decorate with florals. This may be beautiful table settings or even how to dress your shelf in the living room. I look forward to hearing about how to make things look lovely.
